Characteristics

The Gelu'esteils are a sparse and rare species of translucent humanoid beings with elongated forms. Their upper body features a large, dome-like structure, while their lower body consists of numerous trailing appendages. Their upper dome can reach the size of large technological equipment, while their lower appendages can extend up to 6 feet in length. Despite their impressive size, they maintain a surprisingly light mass. Their minimal mass enables limited aerial movement through propulsion, though this method proves inefficient. Gelu'esteils possess remarkable flexibility, allowing them to compress, curl, and stretch their forms to adjust their dimensions as needed. Their lower appendages serve as means of movement, though they typically stay close to the ground in areas of significant gravitational pull.

Their physiology is well-suited for extreme conditions. They can endure the vacuum of space for extended periods without requiring breath, and while they thrive in cold environments, they can also withstand intense heat. When faced with limited resources, their metabolism slows significantly, leading to reduced activity. Due to frequent isolation from sustenance, they often enter a state of dormancy (distinct from sleep).

Several of their thinnest, nearly invisible appendages contain potent neurotoxins with paralyzing effects. They lack control over this defensive mechanism, necessitating careful containment.

Culture and Society

Gelu'esteils lack a unified culture. While the Freid'bleu society operates under a mild form of anarchy, its citizens lead peaceful lives under caring leadership. The nomadic groups, though less structured, maintain their own distinct cultural practices through limited but meaningful social interactions. These nomads travel between planets in search of food and pursuing personal interests. They traverse space in Microships, which they fiercely protect. Though some choose to travel without vessels—being naturally capable of surviving in space—most prefer the convenience of these ships.

Gelu'esteil are typically solitary, particularly among their own kind. This trait is evident in their approach to relationships and child-rearing. They unite briefly for reproduction without romantic attachment, care for their offspring for a short period, then release them to independence.

Their aesthetic preferences are consistent across all groups, including nomads. They find large bells, frills, and flashing lights attractive among their own kind. When it comes to other species, they are drawn to those wearing large hats, fringes, and braids.
