Characteristics

Tytofelidae are a feline-like species. Most individuals stand no more than 5 feet tall. Their smooth, nearly hairless skin comes in muted shades of blue, green, and purple, with rare melanistic (dark) or leucistic (light) variants. Large, cobra-like spade-shaped hoods frame their heads, while two tendrils on each side fall to mid-back length. Their small, pointed ears feature short, feather-like protrusions behind them. Their eyes display gradient irises of red, orange, and yellow, set against black scleras with small pupils. A flexible, trunk-like nose and naturally sharp claws (which some choose to keep trimmed) complete their features. Their two-toned tails match their hood color on the upper half and end in a long, spear-shaped fin.

They have a powerful sense of smell and and can mask their bio-signature, to avoid detection from certain types of surveillance. Their blood is toxic and can sometimes be used as a deterrent.

Culture and Society

Tytofelidae have relaxed societal standards, making them an understanding and inclusive group toward all species, including their own. While they tend to take a nihilistic view of their worlds, they remain neither negative nor pessimistic. They are naturally curious and theoretical thinkers who love to understand how things work. Though soft-spoken, they are an insightful and intelligent species—albeit one that can be quite literal and prone to over-sharing.
