Nanoether is an energy that can be manipulated and harnessed using devices called Cybernetic Energy Reactors (CER0s). It has the potential to power and augment technology, as well as control natural and scientific elements.

Characteristics

Nanoether exists at the quantum level and has unique properties that allow for control over energy and matter. It is believed that nanoether may be a naturally occurring energy that requires special devices to detect and use. The Exile first developed the capable technology on Akrul and was able to continue their work on Earth, indicating that nanoether is a universal energy source.

Note: The planet Tempus is known for having an unusually high concentration of nanoether particles in its atmosphere, making it an ideal location for CER0 research and development. In certain regions of Tempus, these nanoether concentrations interact with the planet's magnetic field, creating temporal distortions where time flows differently than in surrounding areas.

Nanoether particles can become entangled across vast distances, allowing for instantaneous energy transfer. When properly harnessed through CER0s, nanoether particles can maintain their entangled state even when separated by vast distances, enabling efficient power transmission between different locations.

Behavior

Despite being a natural energy source, nanoether functions much like a machine. Its behavior can be controlled or "programmed" using CER0s, allowing for precise control as well as the primary functions of the device: elemental generation and ethereal manipulation. This programmed state is referred to simply as “ether”. Ether can then be used to power various devices and enhance technological capabilities. For example, when integrated with cybernetic implants, it can significantly boost their capabilities and efficiency. Exactly how this energy enhances technology still remains unclear.

Nanoether is typically not harmful to living organisms when utilized properly. However, prolonged use or excessive exposure to uncontrolled nanoether energy can have adverse effects. This is why CER0s are designed with safety measures to contain and regulate nanoether output. Proper training and understanding of nanoether manipulation are crucial for safe usage.

Types of Nanoether

There are two distinct types of nanoether particles that have been identified and studied.

Standard Nanoether

This common form of nanoether can be successfully detected, captured, and programmed by CER0s and can be typically found throughout the universe. It is characterized by its ability to form stable ethereal bonds, allowing for consistent element manipulation and power generation.

Dark Nanoether

A rarer form of nanoether that only be detected by the weak ethereal interactions it creates. Its properties make it impossible to harness through conventional CER0 technology. When present in an area, dark nanoether can effectively neutralize CER0 capabilities by preventing the formation of stable ethereal bonds necessary for element manipulation.

Areas that with a unusually high concentration of dark particles, called “Dark Zones” , can pose significant challenges, as CER0 wielders may find themselves unable to access their abilities in affected regions. This phenomenon can create dangerous situations where wielders become stranded or vulnerable without their usual technological advantages.
